Are Women Sports OVER?

⁣Samantha Kelley – FIERCE – Women's Sports under Assult.

Femininity, Identity, Embodiment, Receptivity, Catholicism, and Encounter.

Title IX has been interpreted to enforce policies such as biological men using women’s bathrooms, living in their dorms, and even competing in women’s sports, all of this leading to creating a challenging and confusing environment for female athletes. In a world where female athletes are encouraged to toss aside their femininity, a former D-1 athlete is changing that narrative and responding with a voice of truth.

FIERCE Athlete is a non-profit Catholic ministry founded by Samantha Kelley in 2016. Using the teachings of the Catholic Church and Theology of the Body, FIERCE helps young women discover their true identities as daughters of God and to understand what it means to be authentically feminine.

Recent statistics indicate that nearly 30% of today’s female collegiate athletes identify as gay, and 62% struggle with disordered eating.

“While there are other Catholic organizations for athletes, most are male-dominant and don’t know how to speak to women specifically. Catholic organizations that exist for women don’t address athletes specifically, and thus female athletes don’t feel at home in any of these places,” notes President and Founder Samantha Kelley.

Number 1 in Folk Music are Dominican Friars???

⁣Hillbilly Thomists – New Album - https://www.hillbillythomists.com/

Holy Ghost Power - https://www.hillbillythomists.com/music

The Hillbilly Thomists are a band of friars of the Order of Preachers.

After playing music together for several years, they released their eponymous debut album in 2017, which reached #3 on the Billboard Bluegrass chart and mostly consisted in bluegrass standards and Americana favorites. Since then, the friars in the band have been doing what Dominican friars do: contemplating, studying, and preaching.

In 1955, the southern author Flannery O’Connor said of herself, “Everybody who has read Wise Blood thinks I’m a hillbilly nihilist, whereas . . . I’m a hillbilly Thomist.” She said that her fiction was concerned with the ways grace is at work among people who do not have access to the sacraments. The Thomist (one who follows the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas) believes that the invisible grace of God can be at work in visible things, just as the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, in the person of Christ. https://www.hillbillythomists.com/about

They’ve also been writing songs. In 2021, they released their second studio album, Living for the Other Side, released on the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas (the original Thomist). A year later, they published a third record, Holy Ghost Power (released July 7, 2022).

Proceeds from album sales, donations, and merchandise sales support the formation of friars at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington, D.C., where the Hillbilly Thomists first came together.

Fr. Justin Bolger, O.P., was born in Cobleskille, NY and raised in Baltimore and Frederick, MD. He hails from a family of seven. He graduated from the University of Baltimore in ’03 and went on to make music with his sister Maggie. They signed with RCA/Victor records, lived in L.A. and Nashville, and toured the country playing their original music. Fr. Justin worked as director of liturgical music at Mt. St. Mary’s in Emmitsburg, MD and earned a masters in philosophy there. In ’12 he entered the Dominican Province of St. Joseph. He was ordained to the priesthood in ’20 and currently serves as Chaplain and Director of Campus Ministry at Providence College, which was founded and still run by the Dominican friars. He continues to make music within the Order as a member of the bluegrass & folk band of friars, The Hillbilly Thomists.

Can You Love the Papacy TOO MUCH??
19:08

⁣DARRICK TAYLOR – Crisis Mag. - Ultramontane Papacy

the term “ultramontanism” has become a shorthand for absolute papal supremacy.

Pope Francis’ apparent contradiction of what have been understood as settled doctrines on moral questions, and the teaching of his immediate predecessors. What has undoubtedly flummoxed Catholics concerned with orthodoxy is how many ordinary Catholics don’t seem to understand the pope can’t simply will whatever he wants with regard to doctrine. How did things get this way?

theologian W.G. Ward, editor of the Dublin Review. According to Ward, the pope’s infallibility meant “his every doctrinal pronouncement is infallibly guided by the Holy Ghost,” and amounts to “a new inspiration.”

This brainless propaganda had its intended effect, demonizing anyone who objected to it and destroying any resistance in the Church to the definition of infallibility. This is what caused John Henry Newman to balk at the definition initially, and it led Ignaz von Döllinger, previously a supporter of infallibility, to violently oppose it and incur excommunication. It also contributed to the schism of the Old Catholics who refused to accept the definition after the council. Doubtless many of the opponents of defining papal infallibility couldn’t separate the hyperbole of its defenders from the conciliar definition itself.

And Pius IX seconded the German bishops when, in reply to criticism from the German government, they averred that the pope was not “a perfectly absolute sovereign” over the Church

Even more ironic is that, despite the council’s admonitions to the contrary, and all the talk of the “spirit of Vatican II,” the power of the papacy has only grown since the council ended. For all Francis’ assertions about the necessity of following Vatican II, his actual reforms have largely strengthened and centralized the papacy at the expense of the bishops.

It was first used during the Investiture Controversy of the 11th and 12th centuries, when opponents of the German Emperor Henry IV appealed to the pope “beyond the mountains” in Italy.

Are Sedevacantist Catholic? Is the Chair of St. Peter Empty?

⁣Eric Sammons – Crisis Magazine – Is the Chair of Peter empty?
The Spiritual Dangers of Sedevacantism
a small (and growing) group of Catholics deny Francis is the pope, deciding this solves the problem of a bad pope. While that third option might be tempting, it’s incredibly dangerous to the soul.
Why is rejecting that Francis is pope so dangerous? Because at its root it is diametrically opposed to the fundamentals of Catholicism. It is essentially a Gnostic position, a belief that a few souls have discovered a special knowledge (“Gnosis” is Greek for “knowledge”) that most Catholics do not have.
https://www.crisismagazine.com..../2022/the-spiritual-
"Ultimately, having serious concerns about Francis while still accepting the legitimacy of his pontificate demands humility. It recognizes that we as individual Catholics do not have the authority to say who is or who isn’t the pope. We recognize instead that Christ founded a visible Church—with fallible men put in charge—and that we must remain in that Church, acknowledging her visible leaders, or we risk being burned."
