Many are those who deny the existence today of this great Saint Virgin and Martyr who is called the "Patroness of the Children of Mary". Ask St. John Vianney about her existence? He gave all the credit for his prayers to her. She is the Saint to protect this age with the great virtue of PURITY.

⁣Lawrence’s story is compelling not just because, like so many other early Christians, he displayed a tenacious willingness to suffer for his Saviour. The wit he maintained in the face of persecution is both striking and instructive. His handling of the Church’s “treasures” was both clever and profound. His defiance of the Roman authorities was both pious and charming. It goes to show that that no amount of persecution could steal from his Lawrence his hope in heaven or his humour.

⁣On August 9th, the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of St. Edith Stein, otherwise known by many as St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. She made her own the words of scripture her own by taking up her cross and dying a glorious martyrdom for the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic faith. Her time on earth coincided with major political and religious turbulence, as she lived from the year 1891 to the year 1942, yet she persevered through her trials and tribulations with a deep sense of faith and a strong commitment to her vocation. Though we are living in a much different time in 2022, we can learn many lessons from her life of Virtue.

⁣Consider the holiness and penance of the saint today. The devil once said to the Cure “Scoundrel, you have already robbed me of 80,000 souls this year and if there were to be 4 Priests like you, my kingdom on earth would be immediately finished. John Baptiste Vianney, affectionately called the “Curé of Ars,” is the Catholic Church’s patron saint of parish priests. He was a champion of the poor as a Third Order Franciscan. We need Holy Priests now as this great Patron of Parish Priests.

⁣Saint Mary Major is one of the 4 basilicas in which the pilgrims to Rome must pray in order to gain the indulgences of the Holy Year. Most fitting do we call Mary Our Lady of the Snows. The white blanket of that August night symbolises Mary, pure as the driven snow, her blessings and graces, numerous and varied as the falling snowflakes.

⁣In the name of the epidemic caused by the Coronavirus, attempts have been made to impose Communion on the hand as a healthier way. This is all to be proven. But the real problem is theological: Communion on the hand is an indult and not a universal law that conveys an idea of Christianity, as well as of the Mass and the Eucharist. Why not start with Communion in the mouth and on the knees to reverse a trend that now seems inexorable: the emptying of our parishes. Could we not also make this a pastoral experiment?

Jesus said "I am the Bread of Life". We need this Bread for Eternal Life. We desire to be drawn into the Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross to humble ourselves as Our Master. We must have this humility and profess this mystery in the manner which we recieve Holy Communion on the knee and on the "throne" of the tongue.

Is the Blessed Virgin Mary simply a "Discilple of the Master" Jesus Christ or can we say more about the Mother. Can we even dare to say as the perennial teaching of the Catholic Church, that She is the Coredemptrix standing for our redemoption under Christ at the foot of the Cross.
