⁣The Ecu-Men Present: Baltimore Catechism - Lesson 01

If you haven't checked out the introduction to the Ecu-Men, please go here: https://youtu.be/hZQoKM9MpS4

Welcome to the first podcast of the series dedicated to expanding Catholic understanding of the foundational principles of our faith as given to us by the successors of the Apostles through the Baltimore Catechism.

Here in Lesson 1, we start out with the “End of Man” and his purpose in this world. Please check out the links below and feel free to throw us any comments or questions you have; we’re always happy to answer.

+JMJ+

Lesson 1:

1. Who made us? -- God made us.

2. Who is God? -- God is the Supreme Being, infinitely perfect, who made all things and keeps them in existence.

3. Why did God make us? -- God made us to show forth His goodness and to share with us His everlasting happiness in heaven.

4. What must we do to gain the happiness of heaven? -- To gain the happiness of heaven we must know, love, and serve God in this world.

5. From whom do we learn to know, love, and serve God? -- We learn to know, love, and serve God from Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who teaches us through the Catholic Church.

6. Where do we find the chief truths taught by Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church? -- We find the chief truths taught by Jesus Christ through the Catholic Church in the Apostles' Creed.

7. Say the Apostles' Creed. -- I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, Our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, sitteth at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

⁣In the name of the epidemic caused by the Coronavirus, attempts have been made to impose Communion on the hand as a healthier way. This is all to be proven. But the real problem is theological: Communion on the hand is an indult and not a universal law that conveys an idea of Christianity, as well as of the Mass and the Eucharist. Why not start with Communion in the mouth and on the knees to reverse a trend that now seems inexorable: the emptying of our parishes. Could we not also make this a pastoral experiment?

Jesus said "I am the Bread of Life". We need this Bread for Eternal Life. We desire to be drawn into the Sacrifice of Christ on the Cross to humble ourselves as Our Master. We must have this humility and profess this mystery in the manner which we recieve Holy Communion on the knee and on the "throne" of the tongue.

Is the Blessed Virgin Mary simply a "Discilple of the Master" Jesus Christ or can we say more about the Mother. Can we even dare to say as the perennial teaching of the Catholic Church, that She is the Coredemptrix standing for our redemoption under Christ at the foot of the Cross.

St. Therese loved simplicity., she taught us the little way to holiness.
This video uses an audio clip taken from the great General Fulton Sheen on how to cope with troubled times using "The Little Way", a method devised by the Great Doctor of the Church, General Therese of Lisieux.
St. Therese had a great devotion to the Holy Face. She took the name
St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face.

Superheroes are a weak, man-made substitute for angels. Angels are real, very real, and more powerful than any imagined superhero, as General Fulton Sheen explains. He also talks about how atheism shapes architecture and why skyscrapers are plain, boring boxes and cathedrals are very ornate and beautiful.

Roman Catechism of Trent (RCT) 2 is another introductory pod on the history and the authority of the Catechism of Trent, created in the 16th century. We also evaluate the purported “changing” of the Catholic Church’s teaching on the death penalty, as found in modernist catechisms. Roman Catechism of Trent (RCT) presents its introductory video to a several-year project of commentary on the "Catechism of the Council of Trent." This 16th century catechism is the only infallible catechism produced by the Catholic Church. Pope Clement XIII wrote that the Roman Catechism contains "that teaching which is the common doctrine of the Church, from which all danger of doctrinal error is absent." This video is presented by Fr. David Nix on the Padre Peregrino channel.

"Sometimes we are caught off guard by certain symptoms of pleasure immediately following a temptation. At most, this can only be a very slight venial sin. However, it becomes greater if, after we perceived the evil that has befallen us, we carelessly delay for some time and dally with the pleasure to decide whether we ought to allow or reject it. The sin becomes still greater, if, after becoming aware of the pleasure, we dwell on it for some time through downright negligence and without any determination to reject it. When we voluntarily and with full deliberation resolve to take pleasure in such delights, this deliberate purpose is of itself a grave sin if the object in which we take delight is also very evil."—St. Francis De Sales in "Introduction to the Devout Life," Chapter 4 part 6 on "How temptation and pleasure may become sinful."
