Avoiding Babylon

⁣Embark on a stimulating odyssey with Father James Mawdsley as we traverse the intersections of history, theology, and socio-political upheaval. Together, we probe the legacy of WWII and its lasting impression on the Church, explore the traditional mass in light of Old Testament typology, and unpack the thorny issues of Jewish policy criticism versus antisemitism. This candid episode is not just another discussion; it's a nuanced tapestry that weaves together the delicate stance of the Catholic Church in a world rife with global tensions.

As our conversation with Father Mawdsley deepens, we scrutinize the historical underpinnings of Jewish political influence, the Church's intricate dance with financial and social order, and the controversial stances of the Talmud. The discourse flows into theological debates, exploring the intricate relationships between Judaism, Protestantism, and Catholicism and their impact on geopolitical and religious allegiances. This episode is a crucible of provocative debate, touching on topics like Jewish Zionism, the role of Islam, and the Holocaust's contentious discourse, all while seeking a path toward understanding and truth.

In our finale, we confront the pressing issues of our time: Muslim immigration, nationalism, and the fraught climate of religious beliefs. We tackle the conundrums of ecclesiastical scandals, papal authority, and the Church's horizon in a post-Francis era. Father Mawdsley offers his reflections on Jewish conversion potential and the theological significance of Old Testament narratives while we grapple with the challenges of content sharing in an era hyper-aware of censorship. This intellectual feast promises not only to enlighten but also to foster a deeper comprehension of the complex tapestry of faith and history.

⁣The Traditional Thomist joins us while we give an honest review of the final part of the Mass of the Ages trilogy.

This episode promises a rich tapestry of Catholic life, blending humor with the solemnity of spiritual practice. We navigate through the tumultuous seas of the Trad Recovery Conference, offering apologies and explanations for our satirical take that ruffled some feathers. We then embark on an engaging critique of Mass of the Ages Ep 3: Guardians of Tradition, pondering its impact on youth and the Latin Mass movement. The episode isn't all serious critique, though; we're also weaving in light-hearted moments and community feedback through listener voicemails, adding a personal touch that reminds us all of the close-knit fabric of our audience.

As we look to the horizon, the future of traditional Catholicism takes center stage. We debate the potential of age-old practices to captivate young men looking for a deeper spiritual challenge, and we tease the idea of a round table discussion among Catholics of various persuasions. It's an exploration of how Catholic media and differing opinions can coexist, culminating in a reflection on navigating disagreements within the Church. Whether you're a Trad or not, join us for an episode that promises to uplift, challenge, and inspire.

Sewing with Ani Slattery
15 Views · 1 day ago

A walkthrough of how I repaired this particular tear in my daughter's dress. Each repair is so different and takes some creativity to figure out thr best way to tackle it, given what (sometimes limited) tools and time we have. It is such a useful thing to know how to do and I find the best way to learn is to just start doing it! I hope this video helps those who might be too intimidated to start. If you have already been sewing a while, I'd love to hear if you have any strategies for repairing garments.

This video is dedicated to my dear friend A. L. who started sewing after her son was born, in order to be able to sew clothes for him and repair her husband's clothes. What a beautiful way to serve her family!

_____

⁣Thank you for watching and please let me know what you think of the video, and if you have any requests for what you'd like to see in the future.

Our family has felt a strong call to pursue traditional skills that have been lost in the modern world, and we want to share it with others as much as the Lord will allow. My husband does carpentry, animal husbandry, butchery, writing and publishing. Find his channel here: https://spiritustv.com/@Traditional_Skills

I share traditional handiworks such as sewing and embroidery and I also have a little shop where I sell some of my handmade goods such as aprons, head coverings, embroidered neckties, Catholic embroidery kits and rosary pouches. Or you can follow me on Instagram to see my past or current works.
