Andrew Blauwet Leviticus laws were there to distinguish the Israelites from the Caananites and other neighbouring religions. For them, sex was a ritual and an offering to their gods of fertility. In the same set of laws, it is forbidden to sew clothes of 2 materials. Does this mean that a bamboo cotton blend bed sheet is blasphemous? Do we pick the laws that we want from Leviticus to apply today and reject the other onces because we love shrimps and bacon?
